Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be shared with the Gravatar service to check if you use it. You can view the Gravatar service’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture may be publicly visible next to your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, please avoid uploading images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract location data from images.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you don’t have to fill in your details again for future comments. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we’ll set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we set several cookies to save your login details and screen preferences. Login cookies last for two days; screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out will remove login cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply stores the post ID of the article. It expires after one day.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of your personal data. You can also request that we erase your data, except any we’re required to keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons.
